Hi, I’m Brittany

February 5, 2021

I created my first blog when I was twenty years old, setting off on my first big adventure—Paris. My blog was named Je Suis and I used it as a way to document my very cool new life as a juene fille au pair. It consisted of my stories as I galavanted around Europe with some of my very best friends. Blogging wasn’t as widespread in 2011 and I had yet to learn of Instagram. I have always been a deep thinker and an over-sharer, an open book really. I like to leave my thoughts for others to find because this is something I enjoy in my life, finding bits of others that I can connect to.

Over the years, what I like to share has changed. It’s no longer stories about bottles of champagne under the Eiffle Tower or being tucked away atop Shakespeare and Company. My life has changed dramatically since then. I am now a wife and a mother and these new titles have unlocked a part of life that didn’t exist before.

Another shift is on my horizon, and as this is my second time entering the new phase of motherhood, I want to be more intentional about not leaving myself behind. It’s easy to get lost in the act of being a mother and serving your family. But I am learning that what makes a strong mother is a happy and healthy mother. This time I want to actively implement creativity into this transition.

Creativity is my feul, it always has been. My definition of creativity has also changed over the years, and this has been vital to its survival in my life. I cannot be creative in the ways I used to be, I simply do not have the time. But I can still be creative in a way that fits my life currently, and it’s still in a way that makes me happy.

Basil & Bambini will be my hub for that creativity. To keep me on track with, not creating content for anyone who chooses to read this thing, but creating content for myself, to keep my fire fueled.
